Our Story

Hear the Story of Our Walnut Farm on ABC Radio Richmond Walnuts is a family owned and operated farm, that is situated in the pristine Coal River Valley, Richmond, Tasmania. As a young family, we purchased the Richmond Walnut Farm in 2020. We have 7,000 Walnut Trees set across 22ha. The majority of the orchard are of the LARA variety and a small amount, that act as the pollinator, are of the FERNETTE variety. Both are known to produce large sized Walnuts, contributing the premium quality of walnuts Australia is known for. LARA is a well-known variety for it's sweet, delicate and bitter-free taste. This variety is more rounded in shape. It has a mild-sweet aroma and a uniquely creamy taste. Since Richmond Walnuts is privately owned and operated, the utmost care is taken to produce the finest quality Australian walnuts. We do this by stringent orchard management throughout the year and right before harvest to reduce the defective nuts harvested. Together with hand sorting after harvest, we maintain a high quality that sees the defective nuts discarded and used as fertilizer. Alongside our commitment to quality, walnuts nutritional information reveals the essential nutrients that make our walnuts a healthy choice.

Committed to sustainability
